“This is as good as it’s going to get.”

That’s what went through my mind this morning, as I stood in front of the bathroom mirror, brushing my teeth. Sophie had her first play date with a new friend in the neighborhood today, and I wanted to make a good (alright, decent) impression.

I surveyed the scene: spit-up stains on my shirt, dark rings under my eyes, unwashed hair, a new softness to my middle.

But none of that matters when I’m with my children. Rocking Sophie, reading books with Lily, laughing, playing.

I am a mother. And, in a weird way, I have never felt more beautiful.

Now that I’m a mom the round tummy, messy hair, no makeup doesn’t matter anymore.
    I. Am. Loved.

  6. There is something so amazing about being a mom when it comes to how you view yourself. I feel so strong and purposeful…even when I’m exhausted! Beautiful post Sis. As always.
