Happiness is: when Carolina beats Duke

I grew up a Duke fan.

I had a big crush on Danny Ferry.

Then I went to Carolina and everything changed. I became a Tar Heel.

I camped out for every Duke game. And once, when the university deemed it too cold to leave us students outside, we got to spend the night inside the Dean Dome. Being the nerd I was, I actually packed a pillow and sleeping bag instead of the hip flask that 90 percent of my peers had snuck in.

And I loved cheering on my Heels from the rafters. It didn’t matter how far from the court I was. Especially when Duke came to town.

So tonight, watching my team kick butt in Durham with so much on the line made me a very happy Tar Heel.
