Happiness is: Maxine, looking lovely

When I opened this photo in my email yesterday (with the subject line “Maxine, looking lovely”) it took my breath away.

Isn’t it beautiful?

This is Marc’s Nanny, Maxine, for whom Lily is named (middle name). I never got to meet Nanny, but I know she was a very special person.

I love that we have the gift of this photo. I’m hoping to frame it for Lily’s room, just as Sophie has a beautiful portrait of her namesake (and maternal great-grandmother), Muriel.

Maxine and Muriel. Lovely, indeed.

  1. Oh how beautiful! Isn’t it wonderful to have family keepsakes like that? D was named for her maternal great-great-great grandmother, and my grandmother gave me a framed photo of her shortly after D was born. It’s been an amazing addition to D’s room.

  2. This picture makes my heart sing. Thanks for posting.
