Ooh, this is the fun part! The winner of a bottle of Episencial’s Playful Foaming Wash from SproutBaby is … (drumroll, please) … Ann from Slow & Steady Wins the Race. Yay Ann!

I can’t figure out how to drop the screen capture from randomizer.org into this blog post, so I present you with this image of verification:

Number 1 (Ann) is the winner! Small Fry clearly is ecstatic.

I’m a big believer in putting the healthiest, freshest foods into Small Fry’s belly. Most everything she eats is organic, even hot dogs and mac-and-cheese. It’s not cheap, but it’s doable. Especially with Costco and Trader Joe’s nearby.

My big exception to organic is local. I try to frequent the farmers market, and I feel strongly about supporting local farm families. In some cases, we get the best of both worlds. Like this spring, when we’ll go strawberry picking at Vollmer Farm, the only organic strawberry grower in North Carolina.

So while I’m working hard to put healthy food into Small Fry’s body, I’m also careful about what goes on her body.

I’ve been a Burt’s Bees loyalist for years, starting with my obsession over their minty lip balm. It’s the best. Really. And the company is local. Bonus! We’ve used Burt’s Bees and other natural products to bathe and moisturize Small Fry (and soothe her butt) since she came home from the hospital. Again, not cheap. But feasible.

So when SproutBaby offered bloggers the chance to sample some of their products, I was all, free stuff that’s good for you? Heck yeah!

Don’t get me wrong. This is not a review blog. I will never write about something that I wouldn’t actually use. Or eat. (Hello Oscar Mayer? If you need bacon reviews, I’m your girl. Call me.)

SproutBaby is my kind of company. They carry only products that are healthy for people and the environment. And this blog post written by company CEO and co-founder Jody Sherman sealed the deal for me. They’re a small, brand-new company working hard to turn a profit. But they’re so committed to being a responsible member of the global community that they give a portion of all profits to charity.

Pretty cool, huh?

SproutBaby sent me four samples of Episencial Playful Foaming Wash, or as I call it, fruity orange love in a bottle. Small Fry and I had a ball being guinea pigs. She loved the bubbles, and I loved the fact that the wash is made entirely out of stuff that’s good for her. No parabens or other scary chemicals. The packaging is made from recycled goods, and the manufacturing is powered in part by solar energy.

The label said that kids “from 1 to 150” could use the foaming wash, so I snuck a sample into the shower with me. Love!

I did a little digging on Episencial, and like SproutBaby, this company is committed to healthy, earth-friendly products and conscientious business practices. They have a number of nonprofit partners and a neat collaboration with one of my favorite children’s book authors and illustrators, Eric Carle. Again, my kind of company.

But the best part?
